Sandboes 1920's kitchen outside Oslo

In Lillestrøm, outside Oslo, stands a beautiful Swiss house from 1912 built by the great-grandfather of the man in the house. It used to be just a small log house, but has been expanded several times, and is now a large house of almost 400 square meters.
The three children in the family who live there today are the fifth generation.

The beloved fireplace is framed with both shelves and wall lamps.

The kitchen is clearly the heart of the house, and consists of 3 rooms totaling 50 square meters.

The jewel in the crown of the room is the green Falcon stove/cooker that Hanne has wanted since she lived in England. Here in the house it is her husband who cooks and although the stove was bought for its looks, it is absolutely fantastic to cook on, says Hanne. Everything in the kitchen is planned down to the smallest detail based on the stove.

Instead of a classic kitchen island, there is a table on wheels.

Hanne says she was lucky when she found the beautiful French vintage chandelier, with green glass, which found a natural place in the kitchen.

Instead of a large island like they had in their previous kitchen, they wanted something smaller that wasn’t so dominant. They found a used old table, replaced the top with a green Verde Guatemala marble top, and also put wheels under the table legs. It works both for baking and as a relief.

The kitchen is L-shaped and is complemented by a kitchen island.

“We had built a solid wood kitchen before, and there was no doubt that we would have one now too. But now a shaker kitchen with recessed drawers and cabinets, painted in linseed oil paint.”

It turned out to be difficult to find in Norway, but the couple finally found a kitchen they wanted at Skandinaviska Shakerkök.

– Everything fit perfectly and was according to the drawings!
Hanne and her family love having guests, and have received many “wow” comments. They usually hear that the kitchen has a very special atmosphere, warmth and fits the character of the house well. And that there is a lot of beauty to look at.
