A DARK BLUE KITCHEN IN STOCKHOLM

When Petter and Molly, and their four-month-old daughter, moved into their new turn-of-the-century apartment on Södermalm in Stockholm, a brand new Shaker kitchen was waiting for them.

The 100 square meter apartment, divided into three rooms and a kitchen, previously housed a 1970s kitchen that had seen its best days.

Today, the kitchen consists of five modules; A bench cabinet with a pull-out drawer at the top and a door at the bottom. Bench cupboard with integrated oven. Bench cabinet with three pull-out drawers for storing cutlery at the top and pots and pans in the two lower drawers. Front for dishwasher. Sink cabinet with source sorting.

The couple themselves have chosen to complement the kitchen with open shelves for extra storage.

“There was no doubt when we bought the apartment that the kitchen needed to be renovated. Admittedly, the kitchen was cozy, but it was old and very worn. So we decided it was best to rip everything out and start all over again.”

“WE FELT THAT A SHAKER KITCHEN FITTED OUR APARTMENT VERY WELL”

Through acquaintances, the family received information about SKANDINAVISKA SHAKERKÖK and after looking through the website and getting help designing their new kitchen, they decided to take the plunge.

– We felt that a Shaker kitchen suited our apartment in terms of style, and both Molly and I are very pleased to have a kitchen that feels solid and beautiful.

Small adjustments

The family’s new Shaker kitchen has taken the same place as the previous kitchen, with only a few minor adjustments and an addition in the form of a dishwasher.

– Bringing in a dishwasher felt important and that meant we had to change the placement of the worktops a bit. Skandinaviska Shakerkök helped us with the changes and today we are very happy with the planning of the kitchen.

The beige travertine worktop breaks nicely against the dark blue kitchen. Porcelain and cups are placed on white open shelves, which creates a clean and airy feeling.

The wooden knobs are painted in the same color as the doors, and they chose a Dornbracht mixer.

The installation was done by a craftsman recommended to them by friends.

In the kitchen there is also a dining room table where the family plans for pleasant dinner parties in the future.

– There haven’t been that many dinners yet because we’ve recently moved in and have a small baby, but it’s definitely something we’re looking forward to.

“IT NEVER FELT AS AN OBSTACLE THAT WE HAD NOT SEEN THE KITCHEN IN REALITY BEFORE WE ORDERED”

— Petter & Molly

Buying a kitchen via the internet without having seen it live was nothing that concerned Petter and Molly.

– We are quite used to shopping online, so for us it never felt like an obstacle that we had not seen the kitchen in reality before we ordered.

– THE WEBSITE’S descriptions and pictures gave us the information we needed and if there was something we wondered about, we contacted them to discuss. For us, the whole process has been very simple and we are very satisfied with the result.
